Who are we?

A long journey

The Midual adventure began in late 1992. Passionate about motorcycles and mechanics, and highly enterprising, Olivier Midy decided to build a French motorcycle. Unaware of the scale of this adventure, he threw himself into the work, finding in it a way to honor the memory of Julien, his late brother.

Very quickly, studies began with the first sketches, preliminary design drawings and initial styling studies. François, the older brother, joined the adventure. The engine was incredible: it was a flat-twin facing the road, a very old architecture that had been abandoned for 80 years. A brilliant idea allowed Olivier to revive it, and it was the subject of a first patent in 1995. Flat-twin engines and their undeniable qualities found a simple and rational implementation in a motorcycle, and this would become the first technical signature of the Midual.

Many years of work followed, leading to the creation of the Midual company, which Olivier’s wife, Lise, consolidated. 2007 saw the development of a “perfect” engine prototype, self-financed by the company. this was truly Midual’s founding act.

These early years convinced Olivier that building a production model was beyond his means. A motorcycle enthusiast, as well as a lover of mechanical motorcycles, he could not understand why these machines were not treated with the same spirit that drives fine watchmaking or the hypercar manufacturer Pagani, which he admired. He decided to devote himself to it, and in doing so created a new niche in the motorcycle market.

However, this ambition to create a motorcycle comparable to a complicated watch required a product demonstration and setting very high standards.

The Midual’s great complication was therefore the self-supporting, double walled single piece monocoque that Olivier designed between 2008 and 2011.

On the 8th of August 2013, the first Midual finally rolled out (photo).

In August 2014, it was officially launched on the green of Pebble Beach, in California, during the famous international Concours d’Élégance.

In July 2018, the company moved into its current premises, successfully launched production, and began marketing its models.

With a motivated and efficient team and capital funding largely contributed by its clients, Midual continues its development.
